How To Root Your Android Phone Without PC

How to Root Android without Computer (APK ROOT without PC)

Method 1:Using KingoRoot
Kingo Android Root has launched its APK Root for Android, which provides a universal one-click Android root solution for Android users. It is easy to use and saves the trouble to connect to PC via USB cable.
Before jumping into the rooting process, please make sure you get everything right beforehand.
  • Device powered on.
  • At least 50% battery level.
  • Internet connection necessary (Wi-Fi network suggested).
  • Allow installation of apps from unknown sources.

Step 1: Free download KingoRoot.apk.

You can directly download this apk file to your Android device by clicking the link above and then install it. If Chrome has warned you about KingoRoot.apk, click "OK" to proceed.

If you are using PC to view this tutorial, you have three choices.
  • You can use the PC Version of Kingo Android Root , which has a higher success rate.
  • You can visit APK Root for Android on your mobile and download the file on your device.Kingo Root Apk Website
  • You can download KingoRoot.apk on your PC, transfer it to your Android device and then find the file via File Explorer and install it.

Step 2: Install KingoRoot.apk on your device.

If you didn't check "Unknown Sources" in Settings > Security, then during installation, you will get a prompt "Install blocked", stating that "For security, your phone is set to block installation of apps obtained from unknown sources". Just follow phone instructions and install Kingo Root on your device.

Step 3: Launch "Kingo ROOT" app and start rooting.

Step 4: Waiting for a few seconds till the result screen appear.

Step 5: Succeeded or Failed.

NOTE If your device is not supported by Kingo or it fails to root, here are some tips for you.
  1. Go Troubleshoot sector.
  2. Save the log file. How to save log of Kingo Android Root?
  3. Email us to support@kingoapp.com with detailed information of your device such as device model, build number, kernel version and else. Attach the log file would be better.

Method 2

Root Your Droid

1. If you don't have a File Manager on your phone, Download any file manager

2. Download droid-superuser_update.zip on your phone.

3. Launch AndroZip. Navigate to ./sdcard/download
Look for the file you just downloaded (it might have gotten renamed by your browser, it's 10.18MB). Rename it update.zip.
In androzip, long-press the file. Select "rename". Rename the file update.zip

4. MOVE the file (update.zip) to the root of your sdcard
In androzip, long-press the file. select "move". Navigate to ./sdcard and press "move here".

At this point you should have the 10.18MB file update.zip located at ./sdcard

5. Read and understand step 6 and 7, then power off your phone.

6. Hold down the "x" key on the physical keyboard while powering the phone on. Keep holding "x" until a triangle icon appears on the screen. Press the volume up + camera button at the same time. A menu should appear.

7. Use the D-pad to select "apply update.zip". Once it's finished, select reboot.

That's it! Your Droid is now rooted!

What next? You can now run applications that require root. If you plan on using custom roms, read ahead.

1.Download DroidRootHelper.zip

2. Open any File Manager

3. Navigate to ./sdcard/download

4. Long-press on the file DroidRootHelper.zip and select "Extract to..."

5. Navigate up one level to the root of your sdcard (./sdcard) and press "Extract here"

6. From AndroZip, click DroidRootHelper.apk which should now be located at ./sdcard/DroidRoothelper.apk

7. From Droid Root Helper, select Mount.

8. When prompted, select Allow, and check the box to always use that setting. At this point, Droid Root Helper will crash. This is normal. If you checked the box to always allow, it won't prompt again and will not crash. Relauch Droid Root Helper and once again select Mount. It should succesfully mount the system.

9. Select Install Busybox

10. Select Install flash_image

11. Select Rename recovery-from-boot.p

12. Select Flash 12.0 recovery

You are now ready to backup your system and flash a custom rom using the new recovery image you just installed! How to back up your system:

1. From Droid Root Helper, select Reboot Recovery.

2. Your phone will reboot into the recovery menu. Use the volume buttons to highlight "nandroid sub-menu". Select it by pressing the camera button.

3. Press the camera button to select "Default Nandroid backup"

4. When it's finished, press the power button to return to the main menu. Select reboot system now.

Your phone is now fully backed up onto your sd card!
